Ready to beat the heat- Testing out Dr.Jart+, Supergoop! and Somme Institute Sun protectors for this summer

Sunscreen showdown- Testing out Dr Jart+, Somme Institute and Supergoop!

Even though, so far we've had a rainy April- the summers are gonna be as hot as usual, at least for a couple of months. And if summer comes with some great advantages, it has its vices too. You need some really good sunscreens to protect yourself from the dangerous UV rays. I never leave the house without my sunscreen even on gloomy and rainy days. Lotus, VLCC and Neutrogena are my favorite brands when it comes to buying a sunscreen. But recently, thanks to Luxola, I got to try some sunscreens from brands that are entirely novel to me!

I'm really happy after trying out these new beauties and now I'm ready to share my quick views about them.

Somme Institute Double Defense SPF 30+

Packaging

Somme Institute Double Defense SPF 30+ comes in a white classy and stylish-looking packaging, a little more on the clinical side in terms of design. It has a twist lock pump style dispenser, you just turn the pump top in the direction of the arrow and push to dispense. I really love the packaging, it's very safe, hygienic and beautiful. Though a bit heavy to keep into your handbag but good enough for travel.

Smell and texture

It has an extremely light smell that you won't even notice. The texture of this sunscreen is a bit thick like cream. I think Somme Institute Double Defense SPF 30+ is  the creamiest of the 3 sunscreens.

Application and effect

It spreads very well on the skin and gets absorbed nicely. It doesn't leave a whitish tint on the face and love it. Though my skin is normal/dry but changes to slightly combination-type in summers. I think it's a bit greasy for my face especially in very hot summer but these days it works great for me. As a body sunscreen it is nice though, there isn't any oiliness and stickiness and gets absorbs decently. I'm sure, it'd probably be more suitable for dry skin types although on the packaging the brand states  that  Somme Institute Double Defense SPF 30+ is suitable for all skin types.

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology

Some words about the product

Everyday Sunscreen SPF 30 (Also available in SPF 50) provides super broad spectrum sun protection for face and body in an OIL-free, non-comedogenc lotion. Powered by potent anti-oxidant-rich Cellular Response Technology, this lotion preserves and protects skin's youthful glow. Ideal for a day of play, this feel-good formula easily absorbs into the skin allowing skin to breathe and sweat. Replenishing moisture through a unique beta-glucan proven to deliver better long term moisturization than hyaluronic acid. Natural extracts of citrus, basil and boise de rose provide a subtle sensorial experience with no unpleasant "sunscreen" smell. The 18oz has an easy twist-and-lock pump so you never have to worry about spills or drips when you put it in your bag or suitcase.

Formulated with Avobenzone, it is a good product for people of darker skin tones as it absorbs into the skin and will not leave a white veil. If you're looking for a sunscreen to use while playing sports this is your good go-to as it allows the skin to breathe unlike a mineral sunscreen which creates a physical barrier on top of the skin.

Packaging

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 comes in beautiful white tube packaging with bright blue and yellow accents. The tube is quite wide, this is the only sunscreen that came with a foil seal. This is a lovely packaging, very travel friendly even easy to keep in your bag.

Smell and texture

The smell is very pleasant something remind me some herbal fragrance in the salon. I really love that. The texture of this sunscreen is so light and runny. It's the lightest of the 3.

Application and effect

When I think about summers and monsoon, I think it'll be good because it doesn't leave an oil slick and feels comfortably smooth and quite matte on my skin. It works great under makeup too!
Because of its lightweight formula, it got absorbed very well and didn't leave any sort of greasiness so it works great as a body sunscreen too. The milky consistency may feel slightly inconvenient while taking it out of the tube.

The best thing about Supergoop+ Everyday Sunscreen is that it's absolutely cruelty free with no paraben, synthetic fragrance and oxybenzone!

Smell and texture
Well if you just stick your nose in the mouth of the tube, you can notice  an extremely light 'sunscreen-y' smell. The texture of this sunscreen is perfect, it's neither thick nor runny. For me it's the precise formula for a sunscreen.

Application and effect

This was the first one that I used out of the three. When I applied it, I fell in love with its texture, it spreads like a dream and gets absorbed into the skin very well. I loved the effect of the product. It didn't feel oily on my face at all. Though I can't say it gives a powdery finish as the brand claims but yes, a natural, matte and light weight effect without a feeling of layering something on the face, I definitely get with it.

Finally...

Sunscreen showdown- Testing out Dr Jart+, Somme Institute and Supergoop! from Luxola

Finally...I have to admit that after testing all 3 I have fallen in love with Dr.Jart+ and after that I would say Somme Institute Double Defense. Dr.Jart+ is something that you can call a perfect sunscreen, talking about the texture, the packaging, the finish and other things. For all those who have normal-oily skin, this sunscreen will not fail to impress you. And even though it leaves a matte finish, it does not make the areas dry or uneasy in any way.
Somme Institute double defense sunscreen was not a disappointment either. It's has a good consistency but being on the higher side in terms of price I would might as well keep it as a second choice.

Coming on to Supergoop+ SPF 30 Everyday Sunscreen, I would recommend this one to all those who are regular beach visitors because it will prove to be a really good sun protector for your body if not for the face.

Overall, all three are genuine buys to keep off the sun- it has been a wonderful experience trying them out!
